As professional coaches it is important to take time out, in honest self reflection, to evaluate your current skills and mindset used in your coaching work. Do you ever ponder what differentiates your skills from other coaches? Do you wonder what is most influential in achieving successful results? Is collaboration your natural mindset or is it one you are intentional about using in your coaching work?

Whether you are an Executive/Business Coach, Life Coach, or Career Coach the skills and mindset required for a successful coaching conversation with your clients are the same. This session provides an opportunity to self-assess your primary mindset and its application to coaching.

This session is designed as an experiential process to review and self-assess your Primary Mindset. Susan’s definition of coaching is: Coaching is a collaborative process that accelerates results and learning through trust and curiosity.

The coaching relationship is collaborative; thus, engaging from a mindset of collaboration is critical. Participants will complete the Primary Mindset Indicator and review the 4 mindsets and dimensions of Emotional Maturity. Depending upon one’s primary mindset, ability to collaborate might require extra effort and focus on the behaviors that allow for collaborative relationships. By the end of this presentation participants will be able to

1. Gain an increased awareness of one’s Primary Mindset and its application to coaching

2. Identify the dimensions of Emotional Maturity and behaviors that contribute to a Collaborative Mindset

3. Further the commitment to enhance their coaching skills

Susan Curtin, MS, BCC, CEAP is an award-winning Organization Development professional and Executive Coach with over 26 years of experience assisting organizations with employee engagement, development, succession & talent management. Her Coaching work includes leadership development and career management. She created award winning leadership development programs incorporating Coaching & Mentoring.


Susan holds a Master’s degree in Counseling is a Board Certified Executive Coach and Certified Employee Assistance Professional. Susan taught 6 years for San Diego State University, Coaching for Organizational Excellence program. She is the President and owner of Insights4Results, a consulting firm specializing in Leadership Development Succession and Talent Management.
